Kodak - EasyShare Software
Ever since its inception, Kodak has been synonymous with consumer photography. Kodak revolutionized the way people take pictures, allowing everyday people to capture memories, with the release of the Kodak and Brownie cameras. Even today, with the digital revolution, Kodak continues to stand out in the consumer photography industry. Their EasyShare program, first released in 2001, allows users to edit their photos right on their home computer, share them with an active Internet connection, and print them on a standard printer or a specialized photo printer. In addition, their EasyShare program enables users to manage large databases of photos in excess of 100,000 images.
EasyShare started out as a standard Windows application, relying on the MFC libraries for its GUI design. This allowed Kodak to provide a standard look and feel to their application. As their market share grew, the company increasingly tried to convey a branded and photorealistic look for EasyShare at the user interface level.
In 2003, Kodak approached Skinux to explore developing a skinned user interface for its EasyShare system. One of their primary requirements was the ability to swap out the interface technology without have to rewrite the system. This was easy because IndigoBird is based on a declarative XML interface technology that seamlessly interoperates with legacy Windows code, such as the Kodak EasyShare product.
In May 2006, Kodak released version 6.0 of the EasyShare product featuring a newly designed interface. It now ships with all Kodak digital cameras worldwide. This interface is fully skinned and uses the IndigoBird thumbnail control, which provides smooth scrolling and scaling regardless of image data set size.

MySpace Instant Messenger
In November 2005, MySpace approached Skinux to assist in the development of their Instant Messenger application. Their requirement was an XML based skinning technology that could be re-skinned without having to recompile the downloadable application. In addition, they needed a toolkit that performed well on all versions of Microsoft Windows including Win98 through WinXP. Since MySpace was about Website personalization, the flexibility of the IndigoBird Engine was seen as the perfect fit.
After four months of joint development effort, MySpace released its first download of the MySpace Instant Messenger. One of the main advantages of IndigoBird, was MySpace’s ability to mix Adobe FlashTM content, and Windows native controls, inside the IndigoBird user interface.
Today, this applications enjoys a loyal following and includes a number of very cool skins.

X3D - PC Gateway
In July of 2002, X3D Technologies contacted Skinux to implement a Skin User Interface for its TV Gateway® and PC Gateway® media players. Their previous interfaces were implemented with Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC)®. The marketing team at X3D felt that a Skin User Interface was necessary to give these products a competitive edge in a crowded entertainment software marketplace.
In 3 months, Skinux was able to conceive and implement the product designs for both products. In October 2002, X3D won Best of Show at Internet World. Within 3 months, X3D sold more than 150,000 copies of the software.
The innovative online help that Skinux created for both PC Gateway and TV Gateway (shown right) won an Award of Merit from the Society for Technical Communication.
Today X3D has been renamed NewSight Corporations.
